IIT Bombay Student Shares Journey and Lessons from Campus Life
Sparsh Somani, a BTech student in Civil Engineering at IIT Bombay, believes in the power of small moments and the importance of following one’s own path. Unlike many of his peers, he deliberately chose Civil Engineering because he was not interested in coding and didn’t want to study solely for the sake of landing a job.
His
journey to the Indian Institute of Technology was inspired by his father and
uncle, both deeply passionate about their professions. Their dedication
motivated him to set a goal worth striving for, and IIT became that dream.
Two
mentors, Gaurav Sir and Prabhat Sir, were instrumental in shaping his academic
direction. They recognized his potential during his school years and encouraged
him to take up the science stream, a decision that would eventually lead him to
IIT Bombay.
Now,
immersed in the vibrant and challenging campus life, Sparsh emphasizes not
underestimating the small moments—whether it’s an insightful conversation, a
breakthrough in understanding a concept, or the camaraderie built with friends.
For him, these moments are as valuable as the big milestones, shaping both
personal growth and academic achievement.
