CBSE to Conduct Class X Board Exams Twice a Year from 2026

CBSE to Conduct Class X Board Exams Twice a Year from 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has approved draft guidelines for holding Class X board exams twice a year starting from 2026, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

"The draft norms will be made public for feedback, and stakeholders can submit their suggestions until March 9. The final policy will be announced thereafter," an official stated.

According to the proposed schedule, the first phase of exams will be conducted from February 17 to March 6, while the second phase will take place from May 5 to 20. Both exams will cover the full syllabus, and students will be assigned the same examination centers for both sessions. Exam fees will be revised accordingly and collected at the time of application.

"These two sessions will also serve as supplementary exams, and no separate special exams will be conducted under any circumstances," the official added.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a major step towards reforming the Class X board exam system by approving a proposal to conduct the exams twice a year, starting in 2026. This move aims to provide students with more opportunities to improve their performance without waiting an entire year for re-exams.
